Install once, stay current

ShellRS checks for new versions in the background, downloads and verifies them, and lights an icon in the title bar when one is ready. Restart to install, or simply quit: it installs on the way out.

Pick the Stable or Beta channel in Settings › About. An update check sends only the version, operating system and CPU architecture.

Verify a download

Every package ships with a minisign signature, and each release has a SHA256SUMS file.

Build from source

Install rustup; the repository pins Rust 1.98.1 and rustup fetches it on the first build. The first build compiles the whole GPUI stack, so give it a while.
